An update on the 2020 Clean Water Voter Guides

We remain determined to help Florida voters elect politicians that will confront the sugarcane industry’s impact on Florida water policy and will fight back against the status quo. We’re hard at work with a group of water advocacy leaders from around the state, creating nonpartisan voter guides which will identify candidates committed to policymaking that addresses water-management-related health issues and the restoration of America’s Everglades. The guides will fulfill a unique niche as the only comprehensive candidate outreach focused solely on water, and will activate voters whose participation can make a critical difference in electoral outcomes.

“We’ve got volunteers from every county we’ll be covering working on this project right now, from people researching candidates, to professional web designers and graphic artists to a data entry team,” said Blair Wickstrom, Vote Water team leader.

LOSOM – We need your voices now more than ever.

The Army Corps has announced its next LOSOM PDT meeting to discuss the replacement of the operational schedule managing Lake O discharges. Current strategies place the health of Floridians at risk. In the estuaries receiving toxic discharges, pets have died and humans are exposed to toxins that cause immediate harm and are linked to deadly liver and neurological diseases.

This is no time to let down our guard. Remember the sugar lobbyists that were moonlighting as expert representation for the Florida Department of Agriculture a few months ago? They’re back — this time masquerading as representatives of the city of Clewiston.
